Pilates. Bio’s Marie started her professional career graduating as a Physical Therapist in California. She has over 15 years experience as a Physical Therapist in various settings. She has enjoyed and held several traveling and permanent positions in PT. She moved from the East Coast to Grand Junction to raise her family in May 2020. She works locally at a hospital and in the meantime at Symmetry Pilates & Wellness. In September 2023, she decided to pursue her dream of comprehensive pilates instructor training. She has been studying under Marissa Lins out of Basalt, CO. Marissa Lins Pilates at Core Power Pilates is a comprehensive and classical pilates program following Joseph Pilates by way of Eve Gentry linage. Something special about Eve Gentry is that a lot of her pre-pilates exercises resonate and overlap with popular prescribed physical therapy exercises. Pilates coupled with physical therapy is a natural coupling to take any body to the next level whether that be recovery, conditioning, or elevating performance. Along with pilates education Marie has completed further physical therapy education with certifications in dry needling and pursuing spinal manipulation to add to her treatment options. She is passionate about movement and how it can heal, revitalize and connect the parts of ourself to work in unison for optimal living. “One thing I love about pilates is how it finds the asymmetry in my movement. I want to find the challenge or the weakness in my muscles because that is where I haven’t been able to engage. That’s the work. The micro-adjustments make all the difference to help my body engage the same muscles on each side. This helps my form and posture so I can engage muscles together and move my best.” In pilates, health and wellness, Marie Adu, PT, DPT, Cert.
